La palabra gusano se utiliza coloquialmente para designar los más diversos animales que poseen una forma alargada, son blandos y pequeños, con apéndices locomotores poco destacados o ausentes. En el Mar Menor hay varios tipos de gusanos: anélidos, sipuncúlidos, etc.
