Camel cricket

Rhaphidophoridae

Description:

About 35mm long body; antennae were double that although one was broken; plenty of uncomfortable looking spiky gadgets at the mating end.

Habitat:

On a sheltered wall in a local nature reserve.

Notes:

Yet to search for exact species... looks like they are not a big group in Australia. Related to the cave wetas. http://bie.ala.org.au/species/urn:lsid:b... https://sites.google.com/site/insectsoft...

Ooops... thanks Cindy. Must have been a brain-rush because the thing wouldn't stop hopping. :-)

Nice one, Mark! Removed from The Hoppers mission ;)
