Description:

When I took this picture, I thought I had found a nymph, but no--I learned there are grasshoppers whose adult forms just have short wings!

Habitat:

Found on a sunlit dead tree with the bark long gone. A wide open clearing in a mixed forest on top of a foothill. Temperature 68°f/20°c, 1397ft/426m elevation above sea level.

Notes:

This species is critically imperiled in the Ontario, Canada region.
