Morinda Citrifolia
Noni is a tree and it has fruit on it called noni. It has thin branches and the height of the tree varies. Usually when they are a few years old, they grow to be 10 feet tall. The noni start out as little white flowers and then they eventually turn green and grow bigger and get a lighter shade of green. The leaves are large and they have a shape like a surfboard.
This plant was spotted on Hui Koloa Place, Kahalu‘u. The noni tree's natural habitat is mainly Tahiti but is found throughout the Pacific Islands.
The noni plant is very significant to the Hawaiian culture because it is one of the main medicinal plants used. It can heal many things ranging from sore throats to preventing skin infections. Noni is a very common plant in Hawai‘i.
