Thank you for the suggestion! I dont think its the same species though- the coloration is different as well as the head to body size ratio. It very well might be in the same genus though, i will do some research into that.
Well it tried to burrow into the space between my fingers. I think thats a salamander version of a hug :P
And thanks for the favorite
no problem, it was a fun challenge :)
what a bizarre find...the closest thing i could think of that it could be is a slime mold. not all slime molds are wet, some are moist or dry
they both have the red tubercles, but P. clarkii isnt native to Massachusetts as far as i am aware.
that is not a skull, it is definitely a pelvic bone and spine. what you think is the upper jaw is the pelvic girdle. what you think are the eye sockets are the hip joints- where the femur connects. what you may think is a lower jaw is a coccyx. the spine is a spine, yes, but that is without a doubt a pelvis
pretty sure that is not a cicada. looks more like the remains of a butterfly or moth pupa
i am pretty sure thats not a tooth, but the pincer of a crab or lobster. judging from the red color, id say you found the remains of someones dinner :P
will do, thanks :)
