Thanks for the species IDs. Those definitely look like the right insect. Not sure why they have slightly different scientific names though.
Found him at about 1000ft above sea level. Probably about 12mm in length. It's hard to imagine how it flies with that weight on top of it's head, but the wings are there. Not really sure what the purpose of that "headpiece" is...maybe for protection. Any other ideas?
Yeah, definitely looks very similar to the nymphs spotted before on Noah, but a different species.
Thanks for the welcome Karen. This little guy is about 8mm probably with the dual tail longer than the body.
