Sign In to followthank you everyone for the interesting links. Wow! Lots of info out there if you know how to look it seems
we've always called it Old Man's Beard - lichen?
dotun55 - fabulous shots on flicker. Are they yours? Makes me wish for a better camera. The wiki says only males? Does this mean there are 4 kinds of butterflys here? I thought male and females might look different of the same species? So I was thinking only 2 kinds? On the farms they do this in the dip spray that is sprayed on cars as they drive onto the farm. Could this poisen them?
thank you dotun55 - will follow up up.
you are probably right - I was comparing some google images. They look like there are various kinds. It's a beaut. I'll keep watching till you tell us what it is.
NICE! shot.
looks like a horse fly to me. Biters
tho don't know what he'd be doing in Canada
In Zambia we'd call this a chongololo
