@catsincluded...I've usually seen them with the pollen on the legs, it was cool to see them covered with it. Thank you for identifying the flower in the picture.

You may want to look at Northern Cardinal egg. Just this year I had two nests 6 feet apart in a Pine tree. One was a Robin's nest with 3 eggs the other had 1 egg in it that looked like one I had found on the ground. Those eggs looked like yours.I later found a 3rd egg on the ground.I ruled out Cowbird because they lay one egg in other birds nests for them to hatch and raise. The nest with the 1 egg was knocked from the original branch it was on and was resting on top of a lower branch. I then checked the Robin's nest again and to my surprise I found a female Cardinal sitting on the eggs. She was there for 2 days. I had to leave for a few days, when I came home I checked the nest again. The eggs were abandoned. My guess is that the Cardinal lost her nest so was either confused or decided to move in to the Robin's nest. I have pictures of the nest with the eggs and then with the Cardinal sitting on the that same nest

I agree with Liam, Willet. 3 things I used to rule out the Yellowlegs, Greater Yellowlegs has slightly upturned bill, yellow legs and it's range shows that Texas would be it's winter residence
