I have always wondered what these were, and if they were larvae for something else. Glad to have stumbled upon this new information!
Aaron, I'm not sure if you can see it in the third picture, where I'm holding the snake, but there's a tiny sliver of the color of the underside. It was a light tan or light grey color, but it wasn't too dramatic of a color change.
