What a strikingly beautiful butterfly.
In Utah these guys are only about 1/2" long, but you're afraid to open your mouth when you're outside when they are out.
Great catch. How many times in ones life does an opportunity like this come along. Wow!
The head ranger here instructed all the rangers to destroy all Barn Swallow nests no matter the stage they are in because they are so messy.
Different but lovely flower. Are these the type that attract insects, capture them and "absorb" them?
They look like a child's toy. Very nice.
Nice shot for identification. You've got the leaves, flowers and fruit. We have these on the coast in Oregon. The Townsends chipmunks eat them.
This is fantastic! I'm loving all the different spottings from all over the world. I've a bird and plant watcher friend who grew up in Inda, I need to clue him into this site!
BTW... this shot is dramatic because a female Peregrine Falcon (she had a nest in the cove) was chasing the eagle and kept whamming him on the back.
I believe "what goes around, comes around". The Bald Eagles are chasing away their food supply, therefore they won't have to food to support the many chicks they hatch, therefore all the chicks won't survive, therefore their population will dwindle a bit, therefore the food supply may come back due to less threat.
