Sign In to followalso it has a square stalk with a circular tube going up the middle. If you get that plant to flower I will be extremely impressed. If you live in a warm or semi warm climate you should try making a cutting and see if you can grow it outdoors in a somewhat shaded location.
my ID suggestion is just a guess, that is one fat squirrel though!
No, I put them in a kill jar first. I did it during an etymology course and haven't done it since, except once in a fir of passion chasing a tiger beetle. Pinning a live insect would be sadistic not to mention hard to do, that being said I accidentally did that to a mosquito, it's best to leave the insect in the jar with poison for at least an hour so you don't cause undue pain to an insect by pinning it live.
All that said etymology is weird.
I found some Amanita muscaria on mcnabs Island with similar coloring. Happy hunting
Awesome, I love swallowtails. Also they are very easy to catch and pin!
This is a coleoptera (a beetle) in the family Pentatomidae. All beetles that have this structure (5 pointed back) are in this family. So without knowing genus or species you can off the bat say pentatomidae easily identifying it. Great shot!
Haha that was a fun tree to eat lunch under
