MattiNiissalo Gaertnera grisea
Gaertnera grisea commented on by MattiNiissalo จังหวัดนครศรีธรรมราช, Thailand5 years ago

Chassalia differs from Gaertnera grisea in that it is a small shrub (Gaertnera gross is a small tree) and the shape of the inflorescence and flowers is different.

MattiNiissalo Peliosanthes albida
Peliosanthes albida commented on by MattiNiissalo Malaysia8 years ago

This is a Peliosanthes albida (http://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/...) which is currently considered a synonym (white form) of P. teta subsp. humilis, with which I don't agree. This genus needs a fair amount of work yet!

It's Eulophia spectabilis. Lovely =)

MattiNiissalo Psychotria
Psychotria commented on by MattiNiissalo Southern, Malawi8 years ago

It's a Psychotria of some type. P. kirkii seems quite similar, but it's a huge genus and it would be very difficult to tell the species.

MattiNiissalo Cyrtochilum orchid
Cyrtochilum orchid commented on by MattiNiissalo Huila, Colombia9 years ago

Some Cyrtochilum probably, perhaps not far from examinans, flexuosum or exasperatum. To be honest, the Oncidium relatives really confuse me, I can't tell the genera apart and have no idea what is the best name to apply to them.

MattiNiissalo The Little Tree-like Lepanthes
The Little Tree-like Lepanthes commented on by MattiNiissalo Huila, Colombia9 years ago

It's more or less a guess from me, but a close match to L. arbuscula. L. ingridiana is otherwise very similar but has much longer sepal tips.

This E. melagastropodium actually seems a closer fit: https://www.flickr.com/photos/ericinsf/4...

MattiNiissalo The Black Column with the Inflated Belly Epidendrum
The Black Column with the Inflated Belly Epidendrum commented on by MattiNiissalo Huila, Colombia9 years ago

I think it's some Epidendrum in "group Diothonea". E. globiflorum/restrepoanum appears fairly similar (http://www.flickriver.com/photos/colombi...), but it's not an exact match and there seem to be many other species that more or less fit the bill.

MattiNiissalo Munronia
Munronia commented on by MattiNiissalo Indonesia9 years ago

I agree that it is very similar to Murraya and that was my initial thought, too. The fused anthers are, however, are very typical of Meliaceae. Luckily it's a small family here: the only Meliaceae from Indonesia that matches is Munronia pinnata http://herbaledu.blogspot.com/2013/10/mu...

I can't be completely certain from the photo but it looks a lot like the Torch Ginger, Etlingera elatior
