I've done lots of hiking in that area and have never seen one of these! fantastic
Definitely an earthstar! very cool
This little guy was hopping across my lawn. Both parents were there watching it from the trees and bringing it food, so I didnt want to interfere. They guided it across the street into the neighbor's yard and that was the last I saw of it. It looked too young to be out of the nest, but since both parents were there I didn't want to interfere... still hoping that was the best decision and that it survived.
I'm pretty sure I moved the larva to a different leaf so I could take a better picture of it, but it's been a year so I'm not sure. Will change to unknown
Oops. Now that I think about it I did find one in my bedroom and the other one appeared in the car. I guess I didnt look very carefully and chalked up the difference in color to level of exposure in the photo.
how strange.. would like to know what it is... following
fantastic! ive never seen one of those
