Could this be a ladybug larva? Seems like it's feeding on aphids.

Yes. It was a bit foolish of me to touch it. I know to assume every snake to be venomous. But my excitement got the best of me!

I don't think feeling the spines/hairs is a good idea. They might make you itchy.
