This may not be a dragonfly because they have 10 segments. Maybe a butterfly?
Yes the nose is used to control the beast because it is a sensitive area, but often you see then working and they seem to know what they are doing.

The fruit is called an aril. The yew could be the Common yew Taxus baccata

Looks like a Bull thistle (Cirsium vulgare)
Red maple has 3 pointed leaves so it must be the Japanese Maple. Thanks Dan..
