Phyllotopsis nidulans
bright orange, stalkless, shelflike, about 4" across
dead tree
Another cool fungi from Baden Powell Park.
Thanks Carol! I'm looking forward to more mushroom hunting next season too. Boulder Rock sounds like a great place to start!
Amazing colors! I can't wait until next summer to find more mushrooms. There is this great place near Boulder Rock (Glacier rocks) Hickory Run State Park in PA with easily 60 different types of fungi (mushrooms)
Its nice to identify a specie thanks for posting,
Hope you checked the flickr link, they have a group for Candian fungii !
Could it be the Orange Mock Oyster, Phyllotopsis nidulans

I appreciate the suggestion James but I don't think this is a Chicken mushroom. They don't have the gills like this one has and they are much more thick and sturdy. I have another spotting of a chicken mushroom.
