I have some of these growing wild in my front yard. They're actually herbs known for their emollient and astringent properties. I chopped one down before knowing what it was. I'm letting the rest grow now :)

It very well could be a dandelion; might be a little on the chewed up side and damp. Only other close matches I found were all European and Russian plants (Scorzonera Austriaca). Take a peek at both and see which is closer. I'm leaning more towards the Scorzonera, but the location of the plant doesn't match where you found it.
