Common Gum Tree Shield Bug commented on by tjdegraaf 2262, New South Wales, Australia11 years ago

Hello Stephen,
I've taken a photo of the same species, when I was on holiday In Australia in Hunter valley.
It is a nymph of a shieldbug. I think of an Eucalyptus Shield Bug, Poecilometis. You can find my photo on http://members.quicknet.nl/tj.de.graaf/I...

tjdegraaf Eristalis dronefly
Eristalis dronefly commented on by tjdegraaf Oud-Heverlee, Vlaanderen, Belgium11 years ago

Hello Marta,
Eristalis lineata = Eristalis horticola. Genus: Eristalis.
It is very similar to the Eristalis interrupta but it has no clear wings.
The yellow rings on the abdomen, the yellow spots and the dark band on the wings are characteristic.

tjdegraaf Sapromyza quadripunctata
Sapromyza quadripunctata commented on by tjdegraaf Oud-Heverlee, Vlaanderen, Belgium11 years ago

Hello Marta
Family Lauxaniidae. There are three similar species.
Sapromyza quadricincta has two dark dots on the abdomen.
Sapromyza quadripunctata has four dark dots on the abdomen.
Sapromyza sexpunctata has six dark dots on the abdomen.
I can’t see six dots, so I think it is a Sapromyza quadripunctata.
Regards, Thijs
