Distribution of Native and Invasive Look-Alike Buttercups
If you see either Ranunculus ficaria (Lesser Celandine) or Caltha palustris (Marsh Marigold) or think you may have found one, consider documenting them and then contributing them to our project!
Remember, take the clearest pictures you can of the flowers and leaves (you can add more than one photo to an observation), as this will aid in identification. And be as precise as possible when recording your location!

Collect as many observations as possible of Ranunculus ficaria (Lesser Celandine) and Caltha palustris (Marsh Marigold) during the spring and summer of 2013.
In addition to advancing our understanding of their geographic distribution of these species, which could be changing rapidly for R. ficaria in North America (where it is invasive), we will use the data to make considerations on a larger, long term project using citizen scientists. Check back for updates on the summary of our project. And don’t forget: after our project ends, your observations will live on in Project Noah for others to use and admire!
