Diabrotica Leaf Beetle

Diabrotica sp.

Description:

A bright green Leaf Beetle with orange markings on the elytra. About 7 mm in length. The legs have pale green femora. The tibiae, tarsi and antennae are all dark orange. The underside of the beetle is interesting, with a bright red thorax and an orange abdomen. I would give it a common name as the "Bleeding Heart Leaf Beetle". See last picture. Family Chrysomelidae.

Habitat:

Found under a light at night, semi-rural residential area, San Cristobal de Las Casas, Chiapas, Mexico, 2,200 meters.
