Description:

Image one is a microscopic shot of the Celery Looper (found dead) wing tip, shown in image 2. Image 3 is a closeup shot of the wing where the white shows. Scales cover the wings of all moths and butterflies in overlapping rows. Moth scales are variable, sometimes hairy. Butterfly scales are more uniform. Some, on males, are modified into scent scales.
