Description:

Black larva. With orange on 5 segments, white spots on all segments. Very spiny with some white spines.

Habitat:

Found on a large weed in a row of crepe myrtles.

Notes:

Adults and larvae feed on aphids and other soft bodied insects. Crepe myrtle aphids are a favored food. Introduced to control aphids they have become invasive. Overwinter in human habitations in large large numbers.
