Silver Dewdrop Spider

Argyrodes elevatus

Habitat:

Found on a dead Argiopes aurantia in our succulent garden in front of our greenhouse.

Notes:

The Genus Argyrodes is known to be kleptoparasitic. Stealing the prey of other spiders. Is also known to be arachnophagus. Preying on other spiders. I believe the Dewdrop spider killed the old and vulnerable Signature spider. Shaking their web has been observed as a way spiders try to chase away Argyrodes spiders. I think this is what was happening in a previous spotting of this Argiope aurantia. See the link for more information on these behaviors.
