Harvestman Spider Nest

Description:

I have seen these gatherings of harvestman spiders many times during the dry season. They are always close to a small water source...water that comes from a spring or trickles out of the mountains or the last bit of water in a drying pool in a creek bed. They make so much noise as you approach because they begin to scatter over the dry leaves en masse.

Habitat:

Tropical dry forest in NW Costa Rica 4.5 months into the 6 month dry season.
