Willie Wagtail

Rhipidura leucophrys

Description:

A favourite of many, this bird is about 190-215mm long. It has black head with white streaks above each eye. upperparts are black and the chest and underside are clean white. The tail fans out at times and is quite long.

Habitat:

Most habitats except dense forests

Notes:

I love this little passerine. It is a fantail - it's quite used to human activity but will not let you get too close. This species is said to be very aggressive and territorial - tries to take on larger birds like the Kookaburra and the wedge-tailed eagle !!

Great first shot, I haven't had much luck capturing Willie Wagtails myself.

SZ is right. The first pic is excellent. And another really busy bird to snap.
