Description:

Familiar white heron. Bill long and dark and legs black but with diagnostic yellow feet. Adult has trailing head plumes in breeding season. In flight, wings broad and road. A partial migrant, most numerous March-September. Small numbers remain in region throughout the year.

Habitat:

Breeds locally in colonies on extensive wetlands; much more widespread during migration times and in winter.
