Chroicocephalus ridibundus
Noisy gull that in spring/summer time has a dark-brown/black head (breeding colours) as pictured. They are actually very long-lived, like many gulls, with a maximum recorded age in the wild of 63 years.
Not a pelagic bird, actually normally found quite far in land.
Found this guy screeching at some other gulls on the top of a lamp post in the middle of Walton-on-the-Naze.
