Double-crested Cormorant

Phalacrocorax auritus

Description:

A large seabird that is generally all-black and has a small double crest of feathers during breeding season. Face has an orange patch.

Habitat:

These are breeding and nesting on a couple of small uninhabitted islands in Casco Bay. They have just been arriving for the season and have just started nesting.
