Baltimore Oriole

Icterus galbula

Description:

Female, juvenile Baltimore Oriole

Habitat:

deciduous and mixed forests, particularly riparian woodlands, natural openings, roadsides, orchards, gardens and parklands

Notes:

We put out fresh orange halves and grape jelly (or jam) every day and wash out the feeder bowl religiously to avoid bacteria or mold growth. I'm not sure if they're as sensitive to mold as Ruby-throated Hummingbirds but we're not taking any chances.

Thank you so much harsuame, Noe and Pili and Marta!!! Marta-I thinks its a juvenile female based on its coloring. They're really quite sweet and naive. I've had them land on my hand while filling the jelly bowl and they ask other babies (or juvenile youngsters) to feed them once their parents have stopped. :-)
