Project Noah Fun Fact: Thought to be an ancestor to the domestic chicken, the red junglefowl has been domesticated for at least 5000 years. The natural range of the wild bird is southern India, southern China, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia. The characteristic "cock-a-doodle-doo" that we know in our domestic chickens is slightly different in these wild birds being cut off abruptly at the end.
