Wood Tiger Moth

Parasemia plantaginis

Description:

A very showy and distinctive moth I have only seen on a couple other occasions. The undersides of the wings are actually orange with black spots, so even in flight it is a very beautiful moth.

Habitat:

Clinging to the underside of a leaf during a rain shower in a densely vegetated area next to the water on Karluk Lake. This area is far from most villages or towns and therefore has fairly excelled biodiversity.
