Black Swan

Cygnus atratus

Notes:

This black swan was probably the biggest of the many at the Mother of Ducks Lagoon in Guyra. It was quite a distance away from me, but it stood out because it was playing in the water and kicking up these amazing showers of droplets. For a Western Australian Aboriginal dreamtime story about black swans (which I found terribly tragic as a kid and still do as an adult), see http://www.artistwd.com/joyzine/australi....

@Leanne - I can't believe you've never seen one! You need to head south for a bit. : )

No matter what breed or where they are found ,all waterfowl seem to do pretty much the same thing. Splashing around,having fun in the water.

Beautiful Shanna. I'd love to see a Black Swan. I've never had the privilege.
