Manorina melanocephala
The Noisy Miner is a bold and curious bird. They hang about in groups and shriek loudly when a threat is detected. (We have actually spotted quite a few interesting things over the years by following the alarm calls of Noisy Miners... it's usually a cat or another bird that's disturbing them, but we've also seen snakes and once a possum that was out during the daytime.)
Noisy Miners are found in woodlands and open forests. They have also become well adapted to suburban situations and are a common sight in parks and gardens.
These three were sitting on my fence for a short time this afternoon. The individual shots are of one that stuck around a little longer than its mates.

Sorry but no I don't Chief RedEarth... interesting observation.
Yes Chief RedEarth.. it's strange that both species have a similar sounding name, sometimes fight over the same territory, have similar colours but they are of course totally unrelated to the introduced Indian mynah. For those who don't know them these Noisy miners really live up to the name. They are nearly always in groups of up to 20 and often sound like a bunch of rowdy lunatics.
They are lovely cross-eyed birds !
Thanks guys. I love them too. : )
Wonderful shots :)
How could you not love them! :) So entertaining too. Super shots Shanna.
Nice shot and nice timing Shanna. They certainly are bold and common but still hard to photograph well. I'm not sure whether to love these birds or hate them; I think I'll go with love.
wow beautiful series, just love those eyes
