Description:

They have large mandibles that can spring shut very rapidly.

Habitat:

Found in our vegetable garden.

Notes:

I've never seen this ant before. There were two of them. It was about dusk. They are primarily nocturnal. Their jaws can generate a force as much as 300 times their body weight.
