Western White ribboned carpet moth

Mesoleuca gratulata

Description:

The first "butterfly" of spring in many areas in the pacific northwest. Often seen fluttering in clearing near blackberries where they lay their eggs. During the short period when they do land to lay eggs or attract a mate, they move almost constantly on the blackberry leaf

Notes:

After 20 years of trying to get photos and an Id, I ended up getting both. It was a good year for butterflies and dayfliers. My other spotting of a couple days later is http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/109...
