Bar-throated Apalis

Apalis thoracica (griseopygia)

Description:

Small non-co-operative and very active bird (±100-120mm) busy slapping a very big worm against the tree trunk to kill it before swallowing. Played hide and seek with me before I could get this photo, which is not as good as I wanted it.

Habitat:

North eastern parts of South Africa down along the coast to Cape Town.
