spotted in my backyard,it´s my contribution to the froogs day,it's a en danger species that continue to have a healthy population in my backyard :)for the past 20 years,so for one side i'am sad,it's a terrible bacteria that put this species in danger,for the other i'am happy for have them so near and in good shape,i'll keep the cares we allways have,not to touch them,have holes and places to give them sheltter and do not used quimical products for cleaning the ciment surfecies,neigther to treat the plants from desiseas,i hope to continue to have this guys arround for the remaining years of my life,they where here before the house was builted ,so i hope they will remain for centurys :) ...the males carry a string of fertilised eggs on their back, hence the name "midwife". The female expels a strand of eggs, which the male fertilizes externally. He then wraps them around his legs to protect them from predators in the water. Habitat:

It is found in Portugal and Spain. Its natural habitats are temperate forests, temperate shrubland, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, intermittent rivers, intermittent freshwater marshes, pastureland, and aquaculture ponds. It is threatened by habitat loss.
