A simple beetle with orange thorax, black head, orange abdomen with discrete black 'pads' on top. About 22mm long.
In a local nature reserve.

Oops, I was in too much of a hurry and wrote Cantharidae instead of Melyridae! I got the genus correct, though!
We all love to find a new one though.

No, it isn't a rove beetle! It is a soldier beetle (Cantharidae), possibly genus Carphurus
Hmm.. so they must be aircraft steps at the back. Yes I looked at BI but couldn't find this particular one.
Yes its a rove beetle. They are capable fliers.
