Crayfish Chimneys

Description:

Most crayfish cannot tolerate polluted water. These homes are in the drainage ditches at Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area, Lewisville, TX. They build these mud-ball chimneys and you can often find raccoon tracks near by since crayfish are their favorite food.

Habitat:

Fresh water areas.

Notes:

Crayfish, crawfish, or crawdads – members of the superfamilies Astacoidea This was sited on the Cottonwood Trail at Lake Lewisville Environmental Learning Area, Lewisville, TX.
