A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Dumetella carolinensis
Catbird, lovely little birds that mimic the calls and songs of many other bird species. Quite the amazing creatures. Their tell tale call is often heard throughout the day, especially during the early morning hours, and when disturbed, they mew like a cat, hence their name.
Most of North America east of the Rocky Mountain Range. Brushy wooded areas, fields, swamps and most anywhere they can find sufficient food sources.
We have several pair nesting in the natural growth hedge on the west side of our property.
