Description:

Medium-sized mushroom. Cap convex to slightly umbilicate, light brown center fading to cream color toward the margins, densely scaly/patchy texture, ~ 6 cm broad with appendiculate margin. Stem white, thick (~ 15 mm) equal diameter to slightly club-shaped, rough or scaly texture with pendant annulus. Gills not observed.

Habitat:

Mixed native and alien tropical insular lowland mesic forest.

Notes:

Spotted growing alongside moss in ironwood (Casuarina sp.) litter at the base of a rock face next to Palehua Trail a couple of hundred meters north of Mauna Kapu on Oahu. Observation made visually in situ and detailed description compiled later via inspection of images. Second image slightly out of focus; camera focused on moss in foreground. Specimen not collected.
