Zebra longwing

Heliconius charithonia vazquezae

Description:

Spotted this in Chipinque Eco Parque(Chipinque Natural Park) in Monterrey, Mexico. The Zebra longwing butterfly is sitting on a flowering plant which is known as Chedurangada Hoovu(ಚದುರಂಗದ ಹೂವು ) in my part of India. But could not find the ID for it. So, an ID for the plant would be great. About the plant : It has thorny leaves, stem and comes in 2 variants . One with Yellow/Orange flowers is known to be bit poisonous and Red one is not. The plant is of medicinal value as it is used preparing medicines for treating cold, cough of children in our area. About the butterfly: They seem to feed on both pollen and suck nectar. which is giving them longer life and mimicry abilities making it difficult for predators to catch them.
