Stick Insect, Phasmid - Female

Neoclides sp

Description:

To mark my 1 year anniversary at Project Noah, I choose this special Phasmid as my Spotting Number 2014, in the Year 2014 :) This is a special find for me during a Night Walk in Bako National Park. When I first spotted her, she was on a dead branch and leafs, very well camouflaged. Upon closer inspection, I believe it was a Phasmid from the genus Neoclides. This Female, around 8 cm, has full wings and shorter front legs with wider femur of the forelegs. Mostly black to dark brown in color, she has granulated features on her head and thorax.

Habitat:

Tropical Forest

Notes:

New Organism to Project Noah Update : This species was officially described and named as Neoclides buescheri by Dr. Francis Seow-Choen in 2016.
