Anhinga

Anhinga anhinga

Description:

One of the common diving birds of Florida, they can usually be seen along the shore and shore trees drying out their wings in a full spread. I'm sure it's not the best way, but I distinguish them from the Cormorants because of their long straight beak which they use to spear fish as they dive. The Cormorants have a large hook on the end of their beak.

Habitat:

Circle B Bar Reserve, Lakeland, FL.
