Leafhopper assassin bug nymph

Zelus renardii

Description:

I'm seeing these bugs all over, especially since I planted some Coraeopsis (tickseed) in my flowerbeds. They seem to be policing the garden.

Habitat:

Leaves and flowers.

Seems like it's probably not the culprit in leaf-munching, then! The plants it seems to like so far aren't showing any signs of being eaten. I think I've seen some leaf-footed bug nymphs around the sunflowers, and I bet they're more likely the ones causing trouble. Thanks for the help, everyone! I'm pretty new at connecting the bugs I see to what's going on in the garden, so I've really been enjoying going through everyone's spottings.

Hi Melissa, beautiful series! This is a nymph of an Assassin Bug but I don't know which species. Gerardo's comment refers to the Wheel Bug which is a species of this family.
