Carolina Mantis mating

Stagmomantis carolina

Description:

Two carolina mantids mating, one green and one brown. The big one was about 3 in, the little one 2.

Notes:

The Carolina Mantis is the only one native to North America (Chinese and European mantises were both introduced in the mid-late 1800s). Its coloring varies from green to grey to brown, depending on its environment. Each time it molts, it can match the color of its surroundings. (Last pic is doctored for fun)
