Clitopilus

Clitopilus lateritius

Description:

A gilled mushroom with cap about 55mm wide. Caps with alternating bands of various shades of brown, the centre being darker than the rest. Margin very wavy with crowded dark coloured gills. Short, squat Stipe slightly "furry", white and plain. These mushrooms were growing in a cluster.

Habitat:

Coastal region - very sandy soil. Growing in grass with wood debris from coastal leptospermum and banksia forest.
