Hackberry Emperor Caterpillar

Description:

This small green horned caterpillar has fallen from the Hackberry tree and is starting to create a chrysalis on the chair.

Habitat:

The Hackberry Emperor may be seen near woodland edges, near creeks, around buildings, and around damp, muddy spots.

Notes:

The garden is about half an acre of native plants specifically planted for wildlife. The main water source is a pond that is filtered by two gravel streams. It is on a peninsula by Lake Lewisville, TX.
