Sand Laccaria

Laccaria sp

Description:

Small brownish red mushrooms with caps about 15mm wide. Caps had irregular margins. Spaced waxy flesh-coloured gills. Smooth red coloured stipe.

Habitat:

Coastal sand dunes

Notes:

These were growing in sand along tracks to the beach. The sands had particles from decaying bits of wood from coastal banksia trees. There are sand loving Laccaria species in the US but, I am not able to find any information on such species here in Australia. Will keep looking..
