Cecropia Moth

Hyalophora cecropia

Description:

Waking up early comes with benefits: Finding huge silk moths sleeping on your deck! Wingspan was about five inches. This is a male, I believe.

You're very lucky, that is great news.

We have a big white light on the porch that attracts all kinds of moths and other insects, but this is actually the most I've ever seen. We have several of them showing up this year, and they're usually a pretty rare sight!

Great spotting! I just saw my first Cecropia moth last night. How do you see so many silk moths? I'm not too far from you, hope I can see more.
